Every August we’re reminded just how much we enjoy Edinburgh’s festival season. There’s so much fun to be had! Whatever you’re into, you’re pretty much guaranteed to find a show, event or talk that’ll be just what you’re looking for.
There are still a couple of weeks to go, so there’s plenty of time for you to get in on the action. The only problem you’ll have is choosing where to start!
We’ve gathered together five suggestions for wacky fringe events as inspiration:
At number five is How to Read Minds and Influence People
Have you ever seen a mind-reading comedian? Well, here’s your chance! Doug Segal’s sell-out hit is on at the Voodoo Rooms on selected dates through the month.
At number four is Sing for Your Life
This one is definitely not for the squeamish! Notorious taxidermy artist Charlie Tuesday Gates has created a spooky but funny puppet musical starring… you guessed it: real taxidermy animals. See it for yourself at The Vaults.
At number three is Polyphony
Daniel Kitson has written a play and he thinks it’s a pretty good one. There’s only one issue: each of the twenty actor’s parts has been pre-recorded on a separate tape machine. Will he get enough people to push play?! Find out at Roundabout @ Summerhall.
At number two is Bruce
If you like low budget puppetry you’ll love this one! Bruce is a yellow block of foam… but he’s got a huge heart. Let him sweep you away on an adventure of love and revenge at Cowgate.
And at number one is Correction
Dance is a huge part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival scene, but Correction is a little bit different than your average modern performance. The seven performers are all desperate for freedom… but they all have their feet glued to the floor. This piece was names Czech Dance Piece of the Year and is being performed at Zoo Southside.
Need somewhere to stay while you’re there? We can help with that too! Check out our fab Edinburgh hotel deals.
